SELDOM
We seldom see the beauty
Of the sunrise in the sky
The winds swaying a grassy field
Or a fluff of clouds on high
The quaintness of a country road
The eagle soaring free
The stillness of a deeper forest
Or the ocean’s majesty
We seldom see the beauty
Of flowers upon the earth
Of the wonder found in deeper books
Or people for what they’re worth
The sound of heavenly music
The sunset’s aura of light
The touch of God Himself
And the stars that fill the night

GIDEON’S FLEECE
Gideon needed a sign
So to his God he’d cry
The fleece was totally wet
The land was totally dry
He needed a sigh again
So again, to God, he’d cry
This time the land was wet
The fleece, totally dry
Because he was lacking in faith
His God, gave him peace
With this wonderful sign
The miracle of the fleece
So Gideon went out to battle
With his 300 men
Really more than conquerors
With God’s help, now and then
THE WORD
Let the word of Christ dwell richly
Deep within thy soul
The letter kills, the spirit quickens
THE WORD will make you whole
Holy men of old
By the spirit, where moved
So study to show thyself
A workman, approved
Man shall not live
By bread alone
And the word is like a seed
That to your heart is sown
And unto thy feet
Thy word is a light
A lamp unto thy path
Throughout the dark of night

ECHOES FROM EDEN
I hear the echoes from Eden
Every now and then
Where a created man and a woman
Plunged the world into sin
And thousands of years later
The world can only sigh
For the echo has been silenced
By man, who’d multiply
I hear the echoes from Eden
Though faintly throughout the day
For millions and millions in Adam
Have all but gone astray
Adam, of Adam, where are you
You’ve made a horrible choice
But to all who really listen
You can hear the echo, God’s voice
HERE IN LATE AUGUST
Here in late August, the skies are lazy
The sunshine’s peaceful, the days, hazy
The giant sunflowers, tend to inspire
As the fields of flowers, slowly reach higher
Here in late August, the festivals abound
The crickets early, are making their sound
The parks are filled with the baseball noise
For soon its school, for the girls and boys
Here in late August, the ocean’s roar
As people bask on the golden shore
And with long walks, they strive to remember
The beauty of summer, for it’s soon September
Here in late August, it just doesn’t last
The memories of a summer gone past
The Memorial Day holiday
The Fourth of July
The Labor Day weekend
That all seems to fly

OVERWHELMED
God, He overwhelms me
When I wake to start my day
With His abiding presence
I’m leaning to go His way
And throughout the day
I feel so very tall
For my Jesus dwells within
He is my all in all
God, He overwhelms me
In my thoughts, and in my prayer
For I am more than a conqueror
And He is always there
And sometime in the future
According to the Bible Story
I’ll be in His presence
And really know the Glory
